November has come to be known for a couple of things: Thanksgiving, the cold, and most recently bearded men. Chi Delta is trying to add one more thing to that list - sexual assault awareness. As I'm sitting here writing this the other members of my sorority are out there advocating for those who have been affected by this horrendous crime. This month on our campus we are trying to raise awareness of the prevalence of it, and the silencing that can surround victims. On November 3rd we hosted a showing of "Hunting Grounds" to educate students on sexual assault awareness. Later in the month on November 8th we brought in Eric Reiter from the Hope Crisis Center to speak at a luncheon. This week outside the cafeteria you can sign a pledge to support victims, to not let them be silenced. In the coming weeks you may also see lots of selfies posted on Facebook. We all post photos with our outfits, and the reasons we wore them, to remind people that regardless of what they are wearing no one is EVER asking to be assaulted. If you are interested in listening to the voices of those who have been affected you can come to our open mic night on November 29th. We look forward to seeing you there!
